Day #14: The one with the suitcases

Oh how the moving never ends.  Truly without a vehicle, moving should have a new name....hauling,  one-small-load-at-a-timing, the crazy-people-on-the-tube-with-all-the-bagging?  When you move, you pack your stuff and move it.  When you haul, you transport whatever you can carry in one trip and do this over and over again until there is nothing left to haul. The comedy of this whole thing, is that there is no way to haul it all in one day so essentially you deplete your stash in one building, stow it away in another, and really don't have anything you need at any given time.  This has been us and today our haul was the suitcases.  Five large suitcases (each weighing 48.9 lbs.), two Tesco Express reusable shopping bags, one GINORMOUS Ikea bag, a camera case, a bathroom kit (separate because it contained nail polish remover), a side satchel, a purse, and a partridge in a pear tree.  For this we called a cab!  When we called, we explained the situation and asked that they send the largest van they had.  At approximately 3:45 we were greeted by what can only be described as the european Subaru Outback.  Note that european cars are typically smaller that their american cousins.

We managed to shove our cornucopia of luggage into the small sized cross over, and headed across through the city to our new flat.  Where we got to once again 'haul' all of our belongings down the small flight of stairs into our unit.  We were planning on spending one more night in the corporate housing, so we tidied up a bit, and headed back to Southwark for our last night in the Southbank.  We stopped by the Libertine pub for old times sake, and dined on the delicious pizza pie.  We reminded ourselves that there was no need to be sad, as we are only 7 tube stops away.

We got to end our evening by skyping with the OKC Singleton clan, and wished all the April birthdays in the family a very happy early birthday!  Chase will be 16 on Wednesday!  Look out world.  Tomorrow will be a big day in our tiny London household, as Jake starts his new job here in London (again, look out world), and Shayne gets to haul, the very last load of belongings to the Almeida flat.

Lesson(s) learned:  1) We miss our cars on days like these, 2) IKEA bags hold a lot of shit, 3) Kids grow up so fast.
